- Cut the 1/4-inch plywood into two pieces, each measuring 4 feet x 1 foot.
- Assemble the box by gluing and screwing the 1/4-inch plywood pieces to the inside of the 3/4-inch plywood pieces. The 1/4-inch plywood should be flush with the edge of the 3/4-inch plywood.
- Secure the box by driving 1 1/2-inch wood screws through the 3/4-inch plywood into the 1/4-inch plywood. Countersink the screws slightly below the surface of the wood.
- Cut the glass to fit the top of the box. The glass should be slightly smaller than the top of the box, allowing for a 1/4-inch overhang on all sides.
- Apply a bead of clear silicone caulk around the edge of the box. Place the glass on top of the caulk and press down firmly. Wipe away any excess caulk.
- Apply a bead of black silicone caulk around the inside edge of the glass. This will help to seal the glass and prevent moisture from getting inside the box.
- Let the caulk dry completely before using the table.
- If desired, attach table legs to the bottom of the box. The legs should be at least 12 inches long to provide adequate support.
Tips
- Use a level to make sure that the box is square before assembling it.
- Countersink the screws slightly below the surface of the wood to prevent them from protruding and scratching the glass.
- Use a putty knife to smooth out the caulk after applying it.
- Let the caulk dry completely before using the table to prevent it from sticking or coming loose.
