How to Build a Ping Pong Table Base

Materials
- 2 x 4 lumber (8 feet long)
- 1/2-inch plywood (4 feet x 8 feet)
- 3/4-inch plywood (4 feet x 8 feet)
- Wood screws (1-1/2 inches and 2-1/2 inches)
- Wood glue
- Sandpaper
- Paint or stain (optional)

- Countersink bit

- Measuring tape

Instructions
- Cut the 2 x 4 lumber to the following lengths:
- 4 legs: 28 inches
- 2 side rails: 96 inches
- 2 end rails: 56 inches
- Assemble the legs and side rails using wood glue and 1-1/2 inch wood screws. Make sure the legs are perpendicular to the side rails and that the side rails are parallel to each other.
- Attach the end rails to the side rails using wood glue and 1-1/2 inch wood screws. Make sure the end rails are flush with the ends of the side rails.
- Cut the 1/2-inch plywood to the following size: 96 inches x 56 inches.
- Attach the 1/2-inch plywood to the top of the frame using wood glue and 2-1/2 inch wood screws. Make sure the plywood is flush with the edges of the frame.
- Cut the 3/4-inch plywood to the following size: 96 inches x 28 inches.
- Attach the 3/4-inch plywood to the bottom of the frame using wood glue and 2-1/2 inch wood screws. Make sure the plywood is flush with the edges of the frame.
- Sand the table base smooth and apply paint or stain if desired.
Tips
- Use a level to make sure the table base is level before attaching the plywood.
- Use a countersink bit to countersink the screws below the surface of the wood.
- If you are using a circular saw, be sure to use a blade that is specifically designed for cutting wood.
- If you are using a miter saw, be sure to set the saw to a 90-degree angle.
