How to Level a 3 Piece Slate Pool Table
Leveling a 3 piece slate pool table is an important step in ensuring that your table plays true and accurately. An unlevel table can cause balls to roll erratically and make it difficult to make shots. The good news is that leveling a pool table is a relatively simple process that can be completed in a few hours with the right tools and materials.
Tools and Materials Required:
- 4-foot level
- 8-foot level
- Wedge shims
- Rubber mallet
- Tape measure
Step 1: Assemble the Table
Before you can level the table, you need to assemble it first. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for assembling the table and make sure that all of the bolts and screws are tightened securely.
Step 2: Measure the Height of the Legs
Use the 4-foot level to measure the height of each leg. The legs should be the same height, within 1/16 of an inch. If any of the legs are too short, use wedge shims to raise them to the correct height. If any of the legs are too long, you can use a rubber mallet to tap them down until they are the correct height.
Step 3: Level the Table Side-to-Side
Once the legs are the same height, use the 8-foot level to level the table side-to-side. Place the level on the slate in the middle of the table and adjust the shims under the legs until the level is centered in the bubble. Repeat this process for the other side of the table.
Step 4: Level the Table Front-to-Back
Now, use the 8-foot level to level the table front-to-back. Place the level on the slate in the middle of the table and adjust the shims under the legs until the level is centered in the bubble. Repeat this process for the other end of the table.
Step 5: Check the Level
Once you have leveled the table in both directions, use the 4-foot level to check the level of the table again. Make sure that the level is centered in the bubble in all four directions.
Step 6: Tighten the Bolts
Once you are satisfied that the table is level, tighten all of the bolts and screws that hold the table together. This will ensure that the table stays level and does not move.
Congratulations!
You have now successfully leveled your 3 piece slate pool table. Enjoy playing on your level table and making those amazing shots!
