How to Level a Pool Table

A level pool table is essential for accurate shots and consistent gameplay. If your table is not level, it can affect the ball's trajectory and make it difficult to control. Leveling a pool table is a simple process that can be done in a few minutes using the following steps.

1. Assemble the Leveling Kit: Most pool tables come with a leveling kit that includes a spirit level, a wrench, and a set of shims. If your table did not come with a leveling kit, you can purchase one from a hardware store or a pool table supply company.

2. Find the Center of the Table: Using a tape measure, measure the length and width of the table. Divide each measurement in half to find the center of the table. Mark the center with a piece of tape or a small object.

3. Place the Spirit Level on the Center of the Table: Position the spirit level on the center of the table, perpendicular to the length of the table. The bubble in the level should be centered between the two lines.

4. Adjust the Legs of the Table: If the bubble is not centered, use the wrench to adjust the legs of the table. Turn the leg clockwise to raise it and counterclockwise to lower it. Continue adjusting the legs until the bubble is centered.

5. Check the Level at Different Points on the Table: Once the bubble is centered at the center of the table, move the spirit level to different points on the table to check the level. The bubble should remain centered at each point.

6. Insert Shims: If the table is not level at all points, you may need to insert shims between the legs and the floor. Shims are thin pieces of material that can be used to raise or lower the table slightly. Place the shims under the legs that need to be raised.

7. Re-check the Level: Once you have inserted the shims, re-check the level at different points on the table. The bubble should now be centered at each point.
