Step 1: Preparation

Sand the surface with 120-grit sandpaper to remove any imperfections. Then, progress to 180-grit and finally 220-grit sandpaper to create a smooth surface.

Step 2: Application

Select an oil-based or water-based varnish based on your desired finish and durability. Stir the varnish thoroughly. Apply a thin, even coat to the table top using a brush or foam applicator. Ensure that the strokes follow the grain of the wood. Avoid over-brushing, as this can create bubbles.

Step 3: Drying
